An inquest has been opened and adjourned into the death of a driver in a pile-up involving five lorries.

One man died in the five lorry crash

Leigh Stewart McCullagh, 39, from Darlington, died in the crash on the A66 at Coupland Beck, near Appleby, Cumbria, on Tuesday morning. Among the vehicles involved were two Army lorries transporting personnel carriers. Mr McCullagh was driving one of the other lorries involved.

Four other people were injured and the A66 was closed for nearly 24 hours.
