by murdo last modified 27-10-2006 07:01

A driver of a 4x4 vehicle has died in a collision with a bus on a country road in North Yorkshire.

The accident happened on the B6265 between Boroughbridge and Green Hammerton on Wednesday evening. Police said the car driver was a 42-year-old local man, whose name has not yet been released.

There were no passengers on the double-decker bus. The 47-year-old driver, from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, was taken to hospital. His injuries were "serious but not life-threatening", said police, who are appealing for witnesses of the accident to contact them.
