fleetThere’s nothing like actual experience when considering investing in a new product which is why for a limited time we will offer to deal with one commercial road traffic accident claim on your behalf using the unique lawcover system.

Using one bump for free allows you to see for yourselves why we think we can offer you a different and better service without any initial financial commitment from you.

With one bump for free you get full legal and other support assistance on one free claim at no cost to your company:-

  1. Free After-The-Event insurance for one claim providing up to £25,000.00 legal cover – so that with one important exception (see below) no legal fees whatsoever will be paid by you.
  2. Full legal advice on the claim from Day One from one of our panel solicitors including a Motor Insurer Database check on the insurers of any other vehicle involved and the filing of court proceedings on your behalf where appropriate.
  3. Free telephone audit by our solicitors of your fleet's future needs for uninsured loss recovery – if desired.
  4. Free quotation for coverage for your fleet on fleetcover for one year

The offer is subject to the following conditions :-
  1. The claim stands a reasonable chance of succeeding in the opinion of our panel solicitors
  2. The claim is reported to us within one calendar month of the accident
  3. Your fleet has a minimum of 20 vehicles and is VAT registered. (We can deal with smaller fleets - please contact us on 0800 066 99 10 if you fall below the 20 vehicle threshold).

How does "one bump for free" differ from standard fleetcover?

In low value damage only claims, the losing party normally only pays a fixed legal fee of about £80.00 and any court fees incurred. If the matter proceeds to a small claims hearing, the cost of any representative attending such as a junior barrister cannot be recovered. Whilst standard fleetcover membership will include this cost, the cover provided under "one bump for free" unfortunately cannot cover the first £200.00 of any such representation fee.

Normally, the fee will be around £175.00 ex VAT (£205.62) but the vast majority of claims settle before a court hearing and there is the option of representing yourself (not normally recommended) or possibly even withdrawing the claim before the hearing.

What if I already have legal expenses insurance?

Some commercial insurance policies include legal expenses cover or you may have arranged this separately through your insurance broker.

Most legal expense insurers subsidise their policies by "selling on" claims to solicitors by charging substantial referral fees. But solicitors are only interested in paying for personal injury claims, so your driver may be catered for under your existing policy whereas your interest in pursuing a damage only claim or one below the small claims limit might not be covered at all.

Fleetcover covers you for both personal injury claims and damage only and provides comprehensive roadside assistance for your drivers 24/7 right at the accident scene...

Questions to ask yourself about your current scheme

  • Does your current service provide roadside assistance for each vehicle in your fleet?
  • Does it provide you with claims handling by a specialist motor accident solicitor from Day One?
  • Do they tell you immediately who the other driver’s insurers are (or put in train a claim to the MIB?)
  • Is your current insurer really willing to pursue damage only cases?
  • How well do you know the people who are handling your claims?
  • Do they really understand the nature of your business?
  • Have they discussed the possibility of pursuing loss of profit claims?
  • Have they discussed whether they can recover on your behalf, wages paid to your employees if they are off work through injury?
  • If you own your vehicles have they discussed "diminution of value" which may occur when a vehicle is involved in a collision

If the answer to any or all of these questions is NO, then it is probably time to look at fleetcover

Expert motoring representation right from the start...

After an accident you need an expert motoring lawyer to represent your interests: lawcover secures you an expert, specialist motoring solicitor from day one...

Our solicitors are not like your local company solicitor practice who might mainly undertake contract work with some occasional motoring cases done on the side. All our solicitors are motor accident specialists with vast experience of motoring law and have in-depth experience of all kinds of simple and complex motor accident claims involving all kinds of vehicles, fleets and severity of injury and damage.

Their job is to recover your out-of-pocket expenses as soon as possible and to ensure that your drivers get the right medical treatment wherever possible if they are injured.

If court proceedings are necessary, so long as reasonable prospects for success exist, these can be filed on your behalf and all your legal fees will be covered.
